    I searched for a copy of the highly acclaimed “Vehicle-dependent Expedition Guide”, which I had been led to believe by various articles, was both expensive and difficult to find.

    I got a new book for Christmas “The Impossible Takes a Little Longer” written by Eric Edis.

    Its an account of his overland trip from London to Australia by Land Rover in 1957.

    It was fascinating reading and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    If you think driving off road today is tough then I suggest you get a copy.

    Well, I bought me a Land Rover Discovery earlier this year (2005).  Nothing special, just a K-plate V8, five door, auto box.  I was under pressure to get something more ‘family friendly’ than a 3 door Ford Focus.  What an opportunity, eh?

    Autobahn Nightmare

    In February of this year (2003) myself and a few others embarked on a trip to Poland.  South Eastern Poland to be precise.  In fact you couldn’t get a lot further without going into a different country, like the Ukraine.  About 1200 miles from London.  Now, this might not be a strain on modern vehicles or even a vehicle that was built in the early eighties but the mid seventies?? Now that was going to be a test of endurance.
